The California Department of Fish and Game wildlife areas are a must for fishing, hunting and sightseeing. The West Walker is designated a wild and scenic river by the state, and is one of only two free-flowing rivers on the eastern side of the Sierra Nevada.More than 1,275 species of mammals, birds, fish, reptiles and amphibians including many that are threatened and endangered inhabit the area.
